An interview with Jamie Barrett from J B Construction ""The completed extension creates a generous living space, framed by eight near-full-height sliding sash windows and a patio door that opens towards the estuary. Natural light fills the room, while the design remains carefully connected to the character and proportions of the existing property.

The success of the first phase led to a second stage, completed in 2024 in collaboration with Studio/gather. This introduced a striking walkover from the existing stairwell, alongside four box-frame windows designed to maximise the expansive estuary views.

Externally, reclaimed Delabole slate and carefully considered lead detailing strengthen the dialogue between old and new. The result is an extension that feels both distinctive and entirely at home in its surroundings — a testament to thoughtful design, sensitive detailing and skilled craftsmanship.""
