Our clients' vision grew from their time living in Scandinavia, with their key aims being the creation of a house that connects to the landscape around it, that uses natural materials, and that is refined but also warm and welcoming.
Our key interventions included replacing the garage with a new master suite, insulating the walls, refinishing the roof, updating the windows and adding feature timber cladding to give a contemporary and elegant exterior.
We reworked the interiors to create light, bright and open spaces that flow through the house and connect to the garden and views.

/The Gables involved a deep retrofit of a dated and poorly performing bungalow into a scandi-inspired, thermally efficient seaside retreat. It’s a stylish, hygge and future-proofed home for use by three generations.

We made the decision to save as much of the existing building fabric as possible to keep the embodied carbon cost down, whilst also offering financial benefits too. We then took a fabric first approach to uplift the property so that it will be a thermally efficient, low-cost-to-run and low impact home.
