/Carmino House is a heritage property that has strong ties to Falmouth’s history. To work on a house like this is a great privilege and one that required a scheme that felt in harmony with the existing. Review, design and development of existing details found in the house allowed the scheme to emerge from the drawing board.

With a verdant garden, connection to this both visually and physically was a must. How to create a room that could be used all year around to enjoy the outlooks to all corners of the landscape as it drops down to the sea.
We worked closely with the client to create something truly wonderful. Creative spirts themselves, this was a truly collaborative process, sitting around the table with sketches and precedent images to make sure the new garden room created was a real marriage to the existing home.
The use of reclaimed materials along with natural materials allows the space to feel soft and cultured. A skilled set of crafted contractors took the drawings on and gave the project a high level of attention to make the smallest moments in the room really sing.

There are a lot of bespoke elements from the timber bifold doors to the lime rendered ribbons around the windows. Visiting the suppliers, speaking to those making the products was part of the process to make sure it would be just right.
This is a scheme that is designed to fit a building that has stood for over 200 years with an addition that will see in the next two centuries. A wonderful experience to be part of and one that is getting better with age - especially as the garden starts to take hold.
