/Gunfield Lodge is a detached Victorian property set within a generous plot on the banks of the Carrick Roads in Feock, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Built around 1875, the house features pitched gables, natural stone ground-floor walls, and rendered wall dormers. From its elevated position, it enjoys wide views across the Carrick Roads to the Roseland Peninsula.
Our clients wanted to make better use of their home for visiting family while preserving its original character. The result is a carefully considered extension that brings light, space and functionality to this coastal property. A new vaulted bedroom suite and family bathroom sit above the existing garage, connected to the main house via a glazed first-floor walkway.
The design echoes the original gables and slate finishes, while a simple asymmetric roof and fully glazed link reduce massing, open up views, and allow the extension to sit lightly within its sensitive setting.
